Continuing the legacy of
Dan Snyder

Applying for the Scholarship

In October 2003, local hockey hero Dan Snyder succumbed to injuries as a result of a car crash in Atlanta, Georgia. Shortly thereafter, using funds raised by the NHLPA and other donors, the Dan Snyder Memorial Scholarship Fund was born.

Each year, the Dan Snyder Memorial Scholarship is awarded to one or more Woolwich Township residents who display the same characteristics that led Dan to a successful athletic career:
  • Determination
  • Desire to Succeed
  • Good Sportsmanship
  • Community Involvement
All candidates must be enrolled in a qualified accredited post secondary institution. The recipients receive the scholarship funds in the fall to be used toward their post-secondary education. Funds are deposited directly to the school the recipient will attend that fall, under the direction of the K-W Community Foundation.

Candidates can apply in one of three categories:

  • Elmira Sugar Kings
  • Woolwich Minor Hockey
  • Woolwich Community Open
Applications must be received by June 16, 2017.
